Women’s War Fund

A local Women’s War Fund committee was a combined Red Cross and Comfort’s Fund group that formed during the second world war to fund raise to support the war effort. It raised £11,405 in the years 1941-1945, a not insubstantial amount given the war time conditions. Mrs. E. Symonds was the president.

By April 1915 Mrs William Campbell had dispatched 28 cases of clothing for Belgian women, touring the country from her Brisbane home to organise collection.
