It appears that the Queen’s Hotel did not operate as licensed premises as it does not appear in any of the Barcaldine District Licensing Court reports. The only evidence that it actually existed is an early Oak Street photo c1888 that shows the building and sign – visible next to Forrest Importers on the right hand side of the image. The first and second images give a closer look at the scene.
There was also the mention of a meeting room for shearers in the Queen’s hotel during the 1891 strike.
