Barcaldine Hotel & Patrick Creek Hotel

The Barcaldine Hotel c1885-1894

The Barcaldine Hotel was situated at Barcaldine Crossing, Aramac and Blackall roads. The location was also known as the 20-mile on the Isisford Road. The hotel was presumably already licensed in 1885 as an application was made to transfer the licence from Archibald Casey to Joe Edge. (Joe and Margaret Edg would take up the licence of the Union Hotel in 1891).

In 1889 the licence was held by Thomas Hooper, and in 1892 the licence was transferred from H F Rodgers to John Walton. The Kirks were the licencees in 1894.

Patrick Creek Hotel c1899-1900

The Patrick Creek Hotel was operating in 1899 under the licence of W H Richardson. The hotel was advertised as being 12 miles from the Railway Terminus (then Barcaldine) on the Barcaldine-Blackall road. It was advertised as being newly built.

It doesn’t appear to have operated for long as in 1901 there was reference on a coach distance excerpt for Barcaldine and Isisford as 18 miles from Barcaldine to Alice River (old hotel).
