Radio
The first account of wireless reception in the town appeared in May 1924. A ‘wireless plant’ was set up by C. F. Hobler at the Yew Street home of Mrs. Walker and produced sounds of orchestral music from Sydney, a weather report from Brisbane and some morse code. Life the first sight of an aeroplane, the first radio reception was regarded as ‘uncanny’.
